The Keraton Gate (Klewer) is located north of Klewer Market, which was formerly known as Slompretan Market. Originally, this gate was named Kori Gladhag Wetan, but as the market became busier, the gate’s name changed to follow the market’s name. The gate is called Slompretan Gate because it serves as a connection between the Kasunanan Surakarta Palace and the Slompretan village.
This gate is closely related to two other gates (kori) located at the northern square: Gladag Gate and Batangan Gate, which serve as entry points to the Kasunanan Surakarta Palace area, while the Klewer Gate is the entrance from the east.
